variety is the spice of life

variety is key to healthy eating! not only do different food have different nutritional benefits, keeping your plate varied will prevent boredom. to keep my plates interesting i aim to: 

  • Include foods from at least 3 different food groups (here we have rice & pita for grains, kale, mixed greens & cucumbers for vegetables, and hummus & beans for plant-based proteins
  • Use a range of herbs & spices (here i have thyme & parsley on the rice, cayenne & sea salt on the pita chips, garlic on the beans & kale, and olive oil & apple cider vinegar on the salad). Many herbs & spices have immune-boosting & anti-inflammatory properties in addition to their delicious flavors
