Anxiety & Productivity Tip
I recently went back to school and have been adjusting to getting all my class work done in addition to my usual responsibilities. I wanted to share with you a practice that has really been helping me, especially on the days when it feels like there is way too much to do.
In the morning, I take some time to read & meditate and then do this practice:
I think about my day ahead and write down everything I need to do in the past tense, as if it has already happened. I include factual elements as well as how I want to feel throughout the day.
✨For example: “Today was a great day. I woke up feeling calm and energized. I started the day with a meditation and then did a 20 minute workout. After that I did my reading so I would be prepared for class…” and continue for the rest of the day.
This practice is like a little trick to the subconscious— when you tell yourself you have already done something, you are more likely to do it because your subconscious won’t make you a liar.
Seeing everything written down in this way also makes me realize that what I need to do is possible and brings clarity on how to move through my day.
Doing this regularly has made me feel more productive and less anxious. Try it out and let me know how it goes. ✨
